Every Monday, I share my "reading notes". Those are a curated list of all the articles, blog posts, podcast episodes, and books that catch my interest during the week and that I found interesting. It's a mix of the actuality and what I consumed.

• Azure Active Directory login extensions and errors you can come across (Dominique St-Amand) - An excellent post that regroups a few problems you may encounter when using the AAD extension with your VMs.
• Dependency Injection on Azure Functions: 5 Ways Selecting Instance from Instances of Same Interface (justin Yoo) - A very complete tutorial with all the code you need.
• How to incrementally update KeyVault access policies with ARM templates (Stephane Lapointe) - A nice ARM template sample to save our time.
• Implementing Multi-region Deployment and Disaster Recovery in Azure (wely lau) - A nice series of video tutorial that covers multiple different scenarios for our disaster recovery.

• Digital Security for Humans with Jessy Irwin (Screaming in the Cloud) - Security is so important and this podcast will present this topic in a different and interesting way.
• 476: How to Pivot Quickly, with Steve Blank (Coaching for Leaders) - With 2020, comes a new erra of businesses... True or dare?!
• All Things Azure with Dwayne Monroe (Screaming in the Cloud) - People asked me those questions very often: Why Azure? How did you start? Dwayne's answer is excellent... Great podcast honest and true.

• 15 Statistics You Should Know About A Career In UX Design (Ben Aston) - Interesting post that does the tour of the UX job. I wished I had that kind of information on all types of jobs back in the day. If you are considering UX its a must.
• 3 Ways to Customize Your Windows Terminal - Windows Developer Blog (Windows Developer Team) - What!? You are not using the new terminal already... simple, clean, efficient, and easy.
• Windows Terminal Preview 1.1 Release | Windows Command Line (Kayla) - Nice few updates coming our way.

Reading Notes #427

Every Monday, I share my "reading notes". Those are a curated list of all the articles, blog posts, podcast episodes, and books that catch my interest during the week and that I found interesting.

• 10 Tips for Building and Deploying Hugo Websites on Azure Static Web Apps (Jason Hand) - A very nice blog post that shares tons of gotcha and will make you save a ton of time.

• Deploy Blazor WebAssembly apps to Azure Static Web Apps (Christopher Maneu) - That seems really cool and easy.... Very interesting.

• Getting Started with Azure Static Web Apps (Dan Wahlin) - Another great post that helps us to get started with the new SWA announced earlier this week.

• I Built a Simple Serverless Storage Solution (Eldad Bercovici) - Pretty cool personal project and definitely useful.

• Static Web Apps - First Look (John Papa) - Awesome get started blog post about the new SWA.

• Blazor WebAssembly 3.2.0 now available | ASP.NET Blog (Daniel Roth) - Finally here, I mean officially since it was available for many months. It's now more than ever time to start playing.

• Using Visual Studio Codespaces with .NET Core | .NET Blog ( Tim Heuer) - Codespace can simplify so much your dev or testing experience!

• Chocolatey with Rob Reynolds (.NET Rocks!) - Awesome episode talking about all the good and the great of Chocolatey that awesome package manager.

• A path to technical leadership with Keavy McMinn (Hanselminutes with Scott Hanselman) - Because the most interesting path are more then often not the straight one... Great talk about the choice we make in our lives...

• #41: Scott Hanselman - A Few Minutes of Wisdom and Technology [S02-E20] (The Solo Coder Podcast) - Just great. Yeah, listen to it... I just wish it was longer ;p

Miscellaneous

• What’s New in Microsoft Teams | Build Edition 2020 - A lot of nice new features added to Teams. Looking forward to try them.

• Windows PowerToys FancyZones is the essential window manager for Windows 10 (Scott Hanselman) - In this short post Scott gives more details about how he was managing his windows during MS Build and how you can also do it.

• Announcing Entity Framework Core 5.0 Preview 3 | .NET Blog (Jeremy Likness) - Awesome I'm looking forward to trying the final version. But in the meantime... why not try it.
• Blazor - Changing the title without JavaScript (Jimmy Engström) - A nice tutorial that shows how to go over certain boundaries in Blazor.
• Clean Coding in C# - Part I (Calvin A. Allen) - A great little post packed with 200% of wisdom.
• How to Integrate Unit Testing with ASP.NET Core 3.1 (Vijayaraj Angappan) - A very clear tutorial that explains how to use Moq and NUnit 2 great tools.
• Markdown .NET Core Library (Jason N. Gaylord) - That looks nice! And it's in .Net!
• Tips, tricks, hacks, and secrets from Alyson La (Alyson La) - A nice little list of pro tips...perfect to get started, or push forward if you are already a git user.

Podcasts

• 465: How to Lead a Virtual Team, with Susan Gerke (Coaching for Leaders) - Nice show. It doesn't matter if you are a manager or just that you work in a remote team, there nice tips.

Miscellaneous

• Visual Studio Codespaces (Nik Molnar) - I really like the new name I think it says more about what it is. And seriously how can I not like the new price! Less than 2$/day for a machine!

Suggestion of the week

• How the .NET Team uses Azure Pipelines to produce Docker Images (Matt Thalman) - Woaaah! I knew there were many docker images, but I didn't think it was that much. It's Incredibly interesting to read everything that is in place to do all those images...automatically.

• Announcing the Azure Repos app for Slack (Karthik RG) - Nice features.

Programming

• ASP.NET Core and Blazor updates in .NET Core 3.0 Preview 9 (Daniel Ruth) - Already Preview 9 with a ton of upgrades. This team is sick! Seriously, awesome work.

• Containerising a Blazor WebAssembly App (Chris Sainty) - Once more Docker is displayed as a very useful development tool.

• Git Graph Visualizes Branches in VS Code for Free (Steve Smith) - There so many great extension for VSCode, the community is amazing.

• Moving from jQuery to Vue (Shawn Wildermuth) - An interesting post that explains Vue and gives references from a jQuery user...like me.

• HttpRepl: A command-line tool for interacting with RESTful HTTP services (Angelos) - What a great tool, looking forward to trying it.

Cloud

• Azure Blob Storage SAS Guidelines (Mark Heath) - Great post that shares best practices.
• Containerized Azure Pipelines Agent using Docker with WSL2 (Wes MacDonald) - Wsl 2 looks incredibly interesting... This post shows one more reason why you should also be looking forward to using it in your everyday work.

Programming

• 10 Tips For Debugging in Production (Molly Struve) - A very interesting real-life story... Will they find the solution?
• Clean up your code with destructuring (Carl) - Interesting way to keep your code clean. It uses a different syntax but seems to work well.
• How to write 90% cleaner code with Hooks 5535657251 (Amandeep Singh) - Okay. I don't know React, but it's really nice to see that framework continue to evolve like that with his community. A very interesting post.

Podcasts

• Economics of Kubernetes, with Owen Rog (Craig and Adam) - Really interesting episode. Of course all the news about Kubernetes were interesting, but even more the economics of cloud computing with the guess of the week, Owen Rog.

Miscellaneous

• Docker Desktop for WSL 2 integrates Windows 10 and Linux even closer (Scott Hanselman) - Nice thoughts about the new upcoming wsl2.
• Top 3 Tools For Boosting Your Productivity (Emma Wedekind) - Oh, it's a bummer that not all suggestions are multi-platform because they ALL look amazing.

• Creating your first Node.js REST API with Nest and Typescript (Chris Noring) - Nice and complete tutorial.

• Is JavaScript really getting too complex? - A geek with a hat (Swizec Teller) - Very inspiring post about the evolution of computer science and a parallel with JavaScript.

• Up your Git game and clean up your history (Christopher Kade) - A cool little tutorial that clarifies some less frequent Git commands.

• Install WSL 2 on Windows 10 (Thomas Maurer) - Awesome tutorial. If like me you didn't want to wait until the next Windows release or take the time to compile and debug a deployment....this tutorial is for us!

• Introduction to Kubernetes Security (Anita) - A nice post that details some security options that we have.

• Microsoft Azure For Spoiled People 3: Migrate A Database (Jen Looper) - Nice post that explains the steps to migrate a database to Azure storage table.

Miscellaneous

• 3 Mindfulness Rituals That Will Make You Happy - Barking Up The Wrong Tree (Eric Barker) - An interesting article about doing peace with yourself in the present.

• GitLab 11.6 Supports Serverless Function Deployment (Sergio De Simone) - Interesting post that introduces a CI/CD tool that works really well with the serverless offering from all providers.
• How to migrate from AzureRM to Az in Azure PowerShell (Madeleine Clayton) - A mandatory read to migrate without hiccups.
• Great News, Azure Developers! Microsoft is Simplifying Your Path to Certification! (Liberty Munson ) - That's excellent news!

Programming

• 11 Of the Best Scrum Tools to Increase Your Team’s Productivity (Ben Aston) - Nice list of great tools. I would add Azure DevOps to it.
• Background jobs in ASP.NET Core made easy with Hangfire (Matthew D. Groves) - This post helps us to be quickly set up with hangfire.
• How to Use a jQuery Progress Bar in Your Web App (Alberta Williams) - This post shows many different ways to use some progress bar as long as you have Kendo UI.
• Introduction to Bash Scripting: Iterative Statements Using Loops (Daniel Farina) - Great introduction tutorial to the fundamental loops. This time it's in bash... Yeah, if you didn't know, you probably need it.
• Quick Introduction to C# Span. (Doug Mair) - A nice new feature in C# that is absolutely not related to the span in Html that we know....aaah!
• Using Visual Studio Code to program Circuit Python with an AdaFruit NeoTrellis M4 (Scott Hanselman) - Very cool son-dad project post and how to use the tool we like.
• When You SHOULD Comment Your Code (Peter Kellner) - Commenting or not commenting... Should it be THE question?

Databases

• MongoDB on Windows in Minutes with Docker (Jeremy Likness) - This post is a fantastic setup tutorial, perfect to get started in a snap! Using docker so easy...

Miscellaneous

• Enjoy some DOS Games this Christmas with DOSBox (Scott Hanselman) - With DOSBox and Retropie... We should be good for the holidays... If you don't have a Raspberry Pie this post is perfect for you since it focuses on DOSBox.

• elementary OS 5 Juno is Here – elementary – Medium (Cassidy James Blaede) - ELementary was already one of my favorite Linux distribution. With this new version named Juno it's just... Hmmmm so smooth and beautiful. Try it you will see.

• Spinning Up a PostgreSQL Database on Azure Using Bash (Rob Conery) - None only this post is a great tutorial, but it's also a nice story.

• Azure PowerShell – Cross-platform “Az” module replacing “AzureRM” (Mark Cowlishaw) - Nice update of the Azure PowerShell, a shorter name is always a good idea. However, how could we make the difference with Azure CLI now?
• Creating the perfect MVP Summit (Charles Sterling) - The MVP summit is a very special event. However, these suggestions are also applicable to other technical event.
• Why you aren’t drowning in recruiters, too - A geek with a hat (Swizec Teller) - Interesting post that brings a more realistic perspective to those moments.

• Azure Portal October update (Peri Rocha) - I'm sure you noticed... The portal is always evolving getting better every day. This post list all the changes, what have you missed?

Programming

• How to get HTTPS working on your local development environment in 5 minutes (Daksh Shah) - Tired to get the unsecured notification when working locally? This tutorial will explain all the steps to fix that.
• Introduction to Vue.js with a Single Page Application (SPA) in Visual Studio - Simple Talk (Damon Armstrong) - Very complete and detailed article, the perfect one to get started with vue.js
• Update on .NET Core 3.0 and .NET Framework 4.8 (Scott H) - Great update and a glimpse of the Frameworks roadmap.

Data

• Fun with SQL Server Containers (Donovan Brown) - Interesting post. Perfect to get ready in 5 minutes.

• An Introduction to AI at LinkedIn (Deepak Agarwal) - Interesting reel life case where AI is used... Not crazy sci-fi, very day to day improvement.

• Integrating ACI with other Azure services (Mark Heath) - Great post and source of tons of also good references.
• Securing an Azure App Service Website under SSL in minutes with Let's Encrypt (Scott Hanselman) - Really cool tutorial AND info about Free certification that you can automatically install... on Azure. Well it possible elsewhere, it's just not explained in this post.;)

Programming

• .NET Core 2.1 and AWS | Amazon Web Services (Norm Johanson) - AWS, containers, .Net Core all together to make your code sits where ever you like. Pretty useful.
• Effective bundling with ASP.NET MVC (Gunnar Peipman) - Nice post about the bundling process in our asp.net MVC application.
• New Updates for Azure Development in Visual Studio (Visual Studio Team) - Great update to the tooling that makes our life easier... Or at least that reduce (a lot) the pain when starting and deploying a project.
• Some tricks I learned recording & publishing an educational video every day for 30 days - A geek with a hat (Swizec Teller) - I really liked that series and I learned tons of stuff while watching it about React of course but also about how to present technical tutorial and make them interesting to watch. Great work buddy!

• Apply a Filter to a Slicer (Mike Carlo) - Sooooo useful. If you don't know how to do it (yet), just watch the video, you'll thanks me later.

• How to Become a Successful Technical Speaker (Daniela Petruzalek) - Interesting and motivating post about how to get prepared and how to learn.
• Pwned Passwords in Practice: Real World Examples of Blocking the Worst Passwords (Troy Hunt) - Incredibly Useful tool that helps us all to stay secure and also check if we are compromised.

• Gain better control over your Microsoft Azure costs and governance using Overcast (Stephane Lapointe) - This new product definitely looks interesting.

• 3 key insights that make D3.js easy to learn - A geek with a hat (Swizec Teller) - I love Power Bi and since I start using it, I would like to try to do some custom visuals. If you think the same thing, then this post is a got pre-learning reading.

Miscellaneous

• How to Coach: A Programmers Cheat Sheet (Lou Bichard) - Very interesting post that shares really good advices, and even suggests a book to go deeper.
• The POC Problem (William Vorhies) - Very interning thoughts about a frequent scenario in our business.
• Why You Must Have an Online Presence as a Programmer NOW (Antonio Cucciniello) - An inspiring post about how to start/ continue/ improve our career as developers/ data scientist/ devops/ architect...

• Yo Team, meet Azure Container Instances (Donovan Brown) - Yep now Yo Team support ACL. This post also shares how quickly get your container IP address.
• #LogicApps – Introduction and main differences with Microsoft Flow #MSFlow | El Bruno on WordPress.com (El Bruno) - Great post that gives a very clear view of the differences... Now I have a post to refer to when people are asking me that.
• .NET Rocks! Azure Event Grid with Dan Rosanova (Carl Franklin, Richard Campbell) - I really liked that episode with Dan. It was nice listening to him talking an making reference to Biztalk and Logic App.
• Azure Functions and Lazy Initialization with Couchbase Server (Matthew Groves) - Nice hack, that could potentially save a lot of initialization if the function is called often.
• Azure Tips and Tricks Part 20 - Working with Files in Azure App Service (Michael Crump) - I'm always impressed by how many people don't know Kudu. Well, if it's your case, this post is for you... at least to get started.
• How to import a Postman collection into your Azure API Management – SANDRO PEREIRA BIZTALK BLOG (Sandro Pereira) - Pretty useful tips that import process.

Programming

• OpenAPI is not what I thought (Darrel Miller ) - I hear you my friend, loud and clear. Let's use OpenAPI the way it should be. Very interesting post for an inside man sharing his thoughts about the purpose of the tool.
• Serverless and Auth0 Webtasks, hop on the bullet train (Glenn Block) - Cool tool in the Node.js world.
• What is a Default Parameter in a JavaScript function? | Dhananjay Kumar on WordPress.com (Dhananjay Kumar) - Aaaah Javascript so powerful but at the same time so demanding.
• What would a cross-platform .NET UI Framework look like? Exploring Avalonia (Scott Hanselman) - I didn't know where WPF came from, and it's interesting to see the open-source project inspired other projects and to see that they continue to evolve.

• #222: Patrick Lencioni—Getting Hiring Right (EntreLeadership Team) - It was my first episode of this podcast, but definitely not the last one. Very interesting speakers... nice books referenced... loved it.
• Why Your Boss Makes You Punch a Time Clock (Suzanne Lucas Suzanne Lucas is a freelance writer who spent 10 years in corporate human resources, where she hired, fired, managed the numbers, and double-checked with t) - Most of us have to do timesheets... I'm sure that at one point, you asked yourself the reason about it. It's time read an answer, in this post.

• Monitoring errors in Azure WebJobs with the ErrorTrigger extension (Vivien Chevallier) - Nice tutorial, with the full solution available on Github, that explains how to catch the error in our Azure webjobs.
• Unmasking your swagger with proxies in Azure Functions (Shayne Boyer) - This post explains how to use Azure functions Proxy to improve the developers' experience.
• Use a container to show your function swagger (Shayne Boyer) - Nice quick tutorial to get a more professional structure easily.

• Dockerizing Nerd Dinner: Part 1, Running a Legacy ASP.NET App in a Windows Container (Elton Stoneman) - Interesting walkthrough where a legacy application is packaged in a Docker container.
• Dockerizing Nerd Dinner: Part 2, Connecting ASP.NET to SQL Server (Elton Stoneman) - Second step in a great tutorial that goes further than the usual hello word, showing how to migrate an application into a multi-container solution.
• Easy data generation with Faker.Data (Guy Barrette) - A quick introduction to a nice little gem that saves us a lot of time.
• Getting Started With Chart.js: Line and Bar Charts (Monty Shokeen) - I've use Chart.js in a project recently, and should I had this great tutorial would have saved me a lot of time.
• Using memory cache in ASP.NET Core (Gunnar Peipman) - Great quick tutorial to know how to setup cache and distributed cache (required in cloud solution).

• Bots are the new Apps – Part 2 (Alexandre Brisebois) - This post asks a lot of questions. .Bots are could be very powerful but are they easy to build? Iterate, test, fail, learn, and try again.

• Deploying Nano Server to Microsoft Azure (Alexandre Brisebois) - Another great tutorial / recipe like we love them... with all the code then the explorations.
  
• Announcing more open options and choice on Microsoft Azure (Corey Sanders) - Cool announce that should satisfy Linux lovers.
  
• Leverage OCR to full text search your images within Azure Search (Liam Cavanagh) - Interesting post that shows options until OCR capability is integrated to Azure Search to extract texts for images.
  
• Upload a VHD to Azure Storage Using AzCopy (Alexandre Brisebois) - We all needed or will need this tool at one point in time... a post to remember.
  
• SQL Server AlwaysOn Cluster Template updated with internal listeners and optimized performance (Ninar Nuemah) - This post introduces a great infrastructure for high-performance solution without compromising the security.

• Why You Should Learn JavaScript in 2016 (Ken Powers) - I eared a lot of people complaining about Javascript, this excellent post explains why you undeniably, we should all know it, an if it's not the case why 2016 is a great time to learn it.

• Azure Logic Apps : Orchestrating business processes and systems integration (Carey Payette) - This is a very nice tutorial that shows how to build an Azure Logic App with twitter and Sql Databe's connector.
  
• How to Setup Application Insights in an Azure WebJob (Jon Gallant) - Nice quick post that will make you save a lot of time.
  
• Azure IoT Hub general availability overview (Nayana Singh) - IoT Hub is finally GA, get to know all included components in this nice overview.
  
• Azure Search indexer for Azure Blob Storage now in public preview (Eugene Shvets) - This excellent tutorial explains how we can benefite of all the magic in this azure search preview.

• VisualStudio Code v0.10.8 (January 2016) - Learn more about what's new in this latest release.
