• The benefits of Infrastructure as Code (John Downs ) - A great post that lists and explains all the benefices of using infrastructure as Code in our business. This is the perfect post to read to learn all about it.

• Learn How To Do Java On Azure (Nikos Vaggalis) - Great news for Java people free learning content and a video channel too.

• Connecting an Azure Logic App to a local Web API (Developer Support) - A short post that explains/ references a cool demo.

• How to choose the right Azure Event Hubs .NET client library type for your application | Azure SDK Blog (Squire) - Very complete post about EventHub. The perfect place to refresh or get started with this tech.

Programming

• Improvements to the new Razor editor in Visual Studio (Daniel Roth) - Looking forward to trying it.

• Integration Tests for ASP.NET Core Web APIs using MSTest (Changhui Xu) - Interesting post that bridges some gaps missing in the doc and explains how to do integration testing.

Miscellaneous

• Hack a TV into a Teams and Zoom Computer with EpocCam and Miracast (Scott Hanselman) - A nice post that proposed a variety of ideas to change/improve your experience f online meetings.

• Publishing an ASP.NET Core App to Azure App Service Using Visual Studio (Code Maze) - A nice tutorial very easy to follow that explains how to create and deploy your first web app to Azure using .Net.

• Cross-platform diagnostic tools for .NET Core (Scott Hanselman) - Interesting sets of dotnet commands.

• .NET Conf 2020 and Community Events this October | Xamarin Blog (microsoft.com) - Nice event coming up mid-November...

• 6 Tools I use for Web Development (Jakob Klamser) - A nice list of great tools. I'm surprised to read that notion would be more flexible then OneNote, I heard a lot of good from it but never tried it.

• Bringing the browser developer tools to Visual Studio Code (Microsoft Edge Team) - Cool...I need to try that.

• Render diagrams on the fly in your Blazor apps (Jon Hilton) - A cool and simple way to add graphics inside your App, wonderful!

• WebAssembly Could Be the Key for Cloud Native Extensibility (Joab Jackson) - Oh, interesting topics, I need to check that podcast.

• Introducing Azure Tools, a new blog community for Azure command line tools - Open Source Blog (PUI CHEE CHAN, MARK GRAY) - Nice! Anew smart source of information, that et you filter the post you see.

• Tip 272 - Azure Security Best Practices | Azure Tips and Tricks (Michael Crump) - Seven great methods to keep our solution secure in Azure.

Programming

• 5 Ways Artifactory NuGet Repositories Boost .NET Development (Rami Honig) - This post introduces an end to end DevOps solution to manage packages dependencies. It looks very interesting.

• Exploring the .NET open source hybrid ORM library RepoDB (Scott Hanselman) - A great open-source solution... I need to give it a try, maybe with my Use-R-vote project...

• Highlights from Git 2.28 (Taylor Blau) - Nice update. I'm personally very please with the default name of our choice.

• Introducing GitHub's OpenAPI Description (Marc-Andre Giroux) - An interesting project.

• New Developer Landing Page and Issues Repo - Windows Developer Blog (Rich Turner) - Nice now we have a customized entry door to the knowledge word.

• Official Support for Remote Debugging a .NET Core Linux app in WSL2 from Visual Studio on Windows (Scott Hanselman) - Wsl2 is an incredible tool. There only one of my machines that don't have it yet because it running on public Windows release... But I should have it soon everywhere and it will be so great!

• Pimp up your Blazor EditForms with Tailwind CSS! (Tarik Alkathiri) - Nice tutorial.

• When does it make sense to use containers in a development workflow? (Sean Killeen) - Nice post that shares a very good answer.

Podcasts

• 211: Failure To Launch (Merge Conflict) - Interesting conversation about when it's time to stop adding features and deploy. Finding a comfortable point could be difficult sometime.

• 482: How to Sell Your Vision, with Michael Hyatt (Coaching for Leaders) - nice episode that shares a few points to guide us when it's time to build/ present our vision.

• #167 – The Most Sensible Debate on Hustle Culture and Work-Life Balance with Natalie Nagele and DHH (The Indie Hackers Podcast) - A very interesting discussion about the "entrepreneur" mentality. Are there too many differences between the guess (cultural)? It's definitely good to ear all their points... But be aware that's mostly a two-hour long episode.

• The Open Source Ecosystem, .NET Foundation, and Microsoft with Sebastien Lambla (.NET Rocks!) - A fantastic episode. A hot topic very strong opinion but done in with class!

• Managing remotely with Asana Engineering Manager Kate Reading (Hanselminutes with Scott Hanselman) - Interesting conversation. It's not a not topic, but they're a lot of unprepared managers that were forced into this situation.

Miscellaneous

• New Windows Virtual Desktop capabilities now generally available | Azure blog and updates | Microsoft Azure (Kam VedBrat) - Wow, that very nice news.

• Simplified YouTube live streaming with Azure and OBS Studio. ( Ihor Leontiev) - With more and more people doing conferences or streaming online this alternative could simplify a lot of technical issues.

• Always Use the for…of loop to iterate in JavaScript (Dhananjay Kumar) - I thought I knew how to loop in JavaScript, apparently, I didn't.
• Exciting new updates to the Git experience in Visual Studio | Visual Studio Blog (Pratik) - Wow, that nice update. Good tools are important when moving and merging code... We don't want to make mistakes.
• Getting Started With Kubernetes: Application Basics (Sophia Parafina) - A nice second post in a series on kubernetes. Learning layer by layer.awesome.
• How to Create and Delete Branches in Visual Studio Code (Jason N. Gaylord) - Nice quick tips. I didn't know how to delete it.

• AsapSCIENCE - YouTubers on Building a Creative Team, USA vs Canada and the Crossover of Art & Science (That Creative Life) - Cool podcast talking about sooo many things... like sciences, politics, and hangover...
• DOs and DON'Ts of your First 100 YouTube Subscribers (Your Thriving Side Hustle) - A nice little episode about the rebranding of the podcast, and some good tips for YouTubers who, are starting their channel.
• #164 – Facing Down an Existential Threat to Your Business with Scott Keyes of Scotts Cheap Flights (The Indie Hackers Podcast) - Interesting story about how an enterprise was built and adapted to the current time in a very difficult period in its market.
• 082: Starting Your DevOps Career from Scratch (CloudSkills.fm) - Discussion questions about DevOps, answering auditor questions: how to prepare, what to expect... very interesting.
• SPI 430: Passive Income Success Story: How Jacques Hopkins Finally Made (Significant) Money Online (The Smart Passive Income Online Business and Blogging Podcast) - Amazing episode once again, about an electric engineer that became an online piano teacher and live from it happy and nicely.

• Backing up an Azure database : Algorithms for the masses - julian m bucknall (Julian M Bucknall) - Just a reference to the Azure tips and tricks, but it still very worth it. Do your backups
• Best Markdown Editor (Jimmy McBride) - Nice cool project. As a markdown user, I will definitely have a look.
• How we launched docs.github.com (Sarah Schneider) - Wow, a very interesting story, and all that in one year.Impressive.

• ASP.NET Core Series: Blazor (Jeremy Likness, Dan Roth) - Nice video to get started with Blazor.
• Developing on Docker with the new and improved Visual Studio Container Tools (and WSL2) (Scott Hanselman) - A great example that shows how easier it is now to start working with containers on Windows.
• Unit Testing in ASP .NET Core 3.1 (Shahed C) - A nice post that shows how to get started with xUnit the voted most popular test framework.

• APIs in the 2020s Panel (.NET Rocks!) - A virtual panel of awesome speakers that talked about API, REST, GraphQL, oData and so more. Lovely episode.
• 471: How to Say No Without Saying No, with Lois Frankel (Coaching for Leaders) - Saying No... being open. Really interesting topic. I put Lois Frankel: Nice Girls Don’t Speak Up or Stand Out in my to read list, that book maybe written for women in mind, but I think it is really interesting.
• Leveraging Our Emotional Goals (Developer Tea) - An interesting episode that talk about goals and what we need to do (or not) to achieved them.
• 203: Updating Open Source Projects (https://castbox.fm/episode/203%3A-Updating-Open-Source-Projects-id2117504-id267802246) - As I just create my first version in one of my open-source project I found the topic more than interesting... Thank you, great show.

• 20 productivity tools for the Linux terminal (Alan Smithee) - Cool app to try for our terminal.
• How to Stop Windows 10 Updates (5 Methods) (Mohammed Siddiqui) - I think you should only prevent auto-update when you really know what you are doing. Updates are easy to forget and therefore your PC could be at risk. That said, sometime it could really be a must.5misc.windows.update]
• Mirroring your Presence Status from the Microsoft Graph in Teams to LIFX or Hue bias lighting (Scott Hanselman) - Did this post just created new needs?! And you should check the keynote video linked to this post it was really a good one.

  The Impossible First: From Fire to Ice—Crossing Antarctica Alone

  Author: Colin O'Brady

  An incredible adventure yes around the globe, but more important over the personal limits. I found this book very inspiring. I felt following him across the Antarctica... In the blizzard or in those deep moment. Great memoir, great adventure.

• All about Github Satellite 2020 - Codespaces, Discussions & More (Saad) - Another great summary of the GitHub event.Nice.
• Is Asynchronous The Best Way To Go in ASP.NET Core? (David Grace) - Awesome post that explains very clearly the difference between the two types of processes.
• Working with GitHub Issues in Visual Studio Code ( Alex Ross) - A very interesting extension. I will need to check that one.

• 070: Securing DevOps in the Cloud (CloudSkills.fm) - Great episode talking about security yes but also best practices and to change mindsets. Love it.
• Running a successful dev shop with Martin Gratzer (Software Engineering Unlocked) - This show is one of my new favorites. Always interesting and very dynamic. This time it was about the hard reality of "dev shop". Very interesting, so true!
• The Overreaction Paradox (Developer Tea) - I never thought about it that way... But it's so true. Are we celebrating the wrong things?
• #34: Michael Jolley - The Fresh Prince of Live Coding [S02-E13] (The Solo Coder Podcast) - Okay, I'm a total fanboy of Michael... but how can you resist?! If you feel the passion inside you... Don't way, share, create, enjoy! Another great episode.
• 197: I Need a Website (Merge Conflict) - They got me 50% of the time... I think they are talking to me: 'Frank we are ....'. Nice episode sharing some dreams about a perfect tool (aka website) for apps developers.

• Create, Build, Deploy and Configure an Azure Function with Azure DevOps and Azure CLI (Damien Bowden) - The perfect tutorial to get started with Azure DevOps.It contains all the code we need and a ton of references
• Introducing the Azure Key Vault Credentials Provider for Jenkins (Tim Jacomb) - Great news for all the Jenkins users and nice extension for Keyvault.
• Making an Interactive Cognitive Portrait Exhibit using some Creativity, .NET, Azure Functions and Cognitive Services Magic (Dmitry Soshnikov) - Very cool project mixing art and techno.

• GitHub is now free for teams (Nat Friedman) - That was definitely a piece of good news this week.
• Bring your own machine to Visual Studio Online | Visual Studio Blog (Allison) - Fantastic news! Before it was possible to access a powerful developer environment from our poor local devices. Now we can also access our own powerful machine from elsewhere! That's very very nice!
• Tips, tricks, hacks, and secrets from Jason Etcovitch ( Jason Etcovich) - An incredible post there is so many awesome tools and references in it.

Podcasts

• 195: The Hanselman Machine Learning Model (Merge Conflict) - Great episode where Frank and James discuss how James could build a sentiment analysis of Hanselman tweets, is it possible or not and what would be the cost (effort, and money).
• GitHub Actions with Enrico Campidoglio (.NET Rocks!) - I think it's my first .Net Show since the Pandemie. Well with was a create show that dig deeper in the GitHub Action. Loved it.
• 068: How to Build Your Personal Brand (CloudSkills.fm) - I really liked this episode as I did "created" my personal brand (without really realizing it ) a few years ago.
• 455: How to Create Great Relationships, with Colleen Bordeaux (Coaching for Leaders) - Interesting discussion with the author of the book: Am I Doing This Right?: A Philosophical Guide to Life in the Age of Overwhelm, that is now in my to read list/

• Backing up SQL Server databases to Blob Storage using Impersonation (Dominique St-Amand) - Nice post that not only shows us and to do backups, but how to do it in a very secured and structure way.Excellent!
• Free SSL vs. Paid SSL Certificates: Why Pay for SSL? (Chip Securis) - Before reading this post I assumed what could be the differences. NOW I know.
• How viewers can be actors in streams on Twitch (null) - Interesting post about streaming and how to leverage the channel points
• Microsoft Learning Blog (Alex Payne) - This is nice.

• Running Containers in Azure with Rancher (Tom Callway) - This post introduces Rancher, a tool thatt looks really interesting.

• Step-by-Step: Finding and Analyzing Microsoft Azure Cloud Usage Costs (Sonia Cuff ) - Great post that provides a few tips to better see or highlight some cost sending in Azure.

• Build your own Azure CLI Extensions (Michael Crump) - A very cool tutorial that explains how to do our own extension.

• How to set up Docker within Windows System for Linux (WSL2) on Windows 10 (Scott Hanselman) - Nice update; tons of info about wsl, docker, ssh and more.

• Pulling your DEV.TO Stats into a Google Sheet (Jeremy Morgan) - That's a cool little project, and I'm pretty sure it can be used by a lot of authors...on devto.

• Using Cognitive Services: Custom Vision Service with Azure IoT Edge - Cloud | Mobile | Edge (Jared Rhodes) - A nice tutorial that shows how to use Python and vscode to create an awesome app.

• What's New in Visual Studio Online | Visual Studio Blog (Allison Buchholtz-Au) - Wow, a turbo mode! But this time(remember the turbo on our old 486 beige pc), it makes totally sens...

• What are Azure CLI Extensions? (Michael Crump) - An interesting first article of a series. This one introduces us to the extension... Hmmm. I think I have an idea.

• Azure Functions with QueueTriggers and .NET Core – Configuration and Troubleshooting (Jeff) - Poor Jeff, I was there on his stream and he struggles so much to understand what was happening. And honestly me too! Despite the fact that I know and use Azure Function regularly I completely missed the missing instruction... The good news is since the documentation is open-source we can improve it...

Programming

• A quick overview of ASP.NET Core with Rider (Rachel Appel) - I never used Rider in a real project. However, the quality of this code IDE is not in question. It looks awesome and this post shows how it supports the latest version of .Net Core.
• An Introduction to Blazor and Web Assembly (Jeremy Likness) - The perfect post to get started with Blazor and also learn where it comes from.
• Visual Studio Extensions: 8 You Should Check Out (Carlos Schults) - A nice post that shares useful extensions for developers. I also like the fact that in the title it's 8 and in the url it's 7 LOL...

Miscellaneous

• How Serverless is Working in Azure SQL Database – SQLServerCentral (Steve Jones) - Interesting post where the author shares his experience with serverless database version.

Books

The Art of Thinking Clearly

I'm still balanced about this book. It was a good book, even if I found some chapters that were too long. I also got lost by moments. I had the impression that some thoughts or ideas were not developed correctly and more quickly wrapped. In counterpart, some were very well served and clear.

• Creating a Chatbot with Microsoft Azure QnA Maker and Alexa (James Ashley) - This post explains all the steps about a pretty cool project.
• How to Schedule Cosmos DB Data Processing With Azure Functions (Jason Roberts) - Cool demo with a time trigger (scheduled) Azure function.

Programming

• Views, Partial Views, and Layouts in ASP.NET Core MVC (Code Maze) - Very simple, but yet complete Asp.Net MVC tutorial. Perfect place to get started.
• Getting Started with Docker in Visual Studio 2019 (Wael Kdouh) - This is a nice tutorial to get started with Containers.
• Visual Studio Code Remote Development over SSH to a Raspberry Pi is butter (Scott Hanselman) - VS Code is simplifying the life of all IoT developers. So cool.

• Publishing Static Content to Azure Blob Storage (Jason N. Gaylord) - Yet another great tutorial to copy files from inside an Azure Pipeline.
• The Wide World of Microsoft Windows on AWS | Amazon Web Services (Jeff Barr) - Great list of Windows services running on AWS with some context, very instructive.

Programming

• Accessibility Insights for the Web and Windows makes accessibility even easier (Scott Hanselman) - Nice tools. Definitely, something I will look into.
• New features for extension authors in Visual Studio 2019 version 16.1 | The Visual Studio Blog (Mads Kristensen) - That's a lot of 'little' thing that would make a big difference. Well done.
• Progressive Web Apps & Electron (Felix Rieseberg) - Excellent post that does a thorough comparison between pwa and electron app.
• Tests code coverage in Visual Studio Code with C# and .Net Core (Alberto Bar-Noy) - Awesome post that introduces a code coverage tool for .Net Core.

Podcast

• Hevesh5 - Making a YouTube Career from Viral Domino Art (#46) (That Creative Life) - Great show. An amazing story.
• Azure Functions using Node with Simona Cotin (.NET Rocks!) - Great show. I just switch my website following that Jam stack pattern. I was planning to use Azure Functions to add a few little twists.... I'm happy to see that I not alone thinking like that!
• 0230 - Alain Vezina - Le métier du DevOps (Visual Studio Talk Show) - Super épisode, très intéressant d'entendre parler du rôle de DevOps de quelqu'un qui le vie au quotidien. Merci de la suggestion, je crois, bien que je suis du pour relire The Pheonix Project.
• Goal Setting Tips & Tracking KPIs (Video Pursuit Podcast) - Really interesting episode. Everybody is talking about matrix and KPI... But it's not frequent to hear about the "how". I really like how the goals are explained, achievable, but not easy... And how we should react when we don't reach them.

• Surface Pro – Don’t forget to update the Dock (buildbod) - Great advice, that will save you a lot of time.

• Announcing Amazon Transcribe streaming transcription support in the AWS SDK for Ruby | Amazon Web Services (Jingyi Chen) - Nice new SDK for Ruby... Its been a while since I code with this language but somehow I think I would like to try it.
• Avoiding Azure Functions Cold Starts (Mark Heath) - Does cold starts are affecting your solutions? Maybe not, but if they are this post lists three scenarios to reduce them as must as possible.
• Web and Azure Tool Updates in Visual Studio 2019 (Angelos Petropoulos) - Great new functionalities from Visual Studio IDE

• A Beginner's Guide to Test Automation (Angela Riggs) - Very nice and interesting post about unit tests.
• Debugging an ASP.NET Core Docker Container in Windows AND Linux (Jason Robert) - Learn why the Visual Studio family IS an great tool on any platforms to work with containers.
• Debugging your .NET Core in Docker applications with VS Code | LINQ to Fail (Aaron Powell) - Great tutorial, who don't need to debug...
• Exploring the .NET Core MCR Docker files (updated): runtime vs aspnet vs sdk (Andrew Lock) - This post is packed with update and advice for our Docker projects in Azure.

Books

Building a StoryBrand, Clarify Your Message So Customers Will Listen 

Donald Miller

A really interesting book that helps to focus and keep in mind the most important. I didn't read it with a purpose of business really, but it did make me remember past experiences and it was easy to make the relationship between success and when the story was clear. Take the time to read it, do the exercises/ reflections required... it's worth it.
